NO. 2
The
following changes are hereby deemed to be a part of the
Contract Documents in full effect as is originally
included. Addendum
No. 3 will address any unresolved issues such as the
leak detection system.
GENERAL-
DIVISION I - BIDDING REQUIREMENTS
1. Document 00100, paragraph 10. Bid Submission,
DELETE first
sentence and REPLACE WITH "Sealed bids will be
received by the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Room
100A, 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa CA 95403,
until 3:00 p.m. as determined by the clock on the wall of the Office of
the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, on March
16, 2005, at which time they will be transferred to
the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors' Caucus Room where they will be publicly opened and read aloud by the
Director of Transportation and Public Works, or his
designee."
Any
bids already submitted to meet the original bid opening
date of March 3, 2005 will be returned to bidders
unopened.
RESPONSES
TO WRITTEN QUESTIONS-
The
responses to questions 14 through 25 were inadvertently
omitted from Addendum No. 1.
Question
#14. Bid Item # 17, PVC Check valves and valve pots; we cannot
locate any of these valves on the plans. The only check valve listed as DI check valve at
the RP Tie-in. Please clarify the location of these
three (3) check valves.
Answer:
There are two (2) PVC check valves and one (1) DI check
valve included in the project. One PVC check valve is
located at each pump station on the discharge line prior
to the reducer. See
Detail 1 on C501. Will
provide separate bid items for the two check valve
types.
Question
15. Bid Item # 18, Butterfly valves. Are all butterfly valves paid for under this bid
item? The
only locations are at the pump stations and flow meter
vault. Are
we correct with this statement?
Answer: All butterfly valves are paid for under Bid Item 18. Yes, butterfly valves are located at the pump
stations and at the flow meter.
Question
16. We are requesting better clarification for the pay item
limits and what they include for the pump station, flow
meter vault.
Answer: For pay limits of the pump station, see answer to question 6. The pay limits for the flow meter vault include
all work necessary to install the flow meter, vault,
piping and appurtenances starting at the transition from
HDPE to DI at the 8-inch TEE (for the bypass), through
the flow meter, to and including the tee on the
downstream side of the flow meter, before the transition
back to HDPE. Butterfly
valves are paid for under the Bid Item No 18.
Question
17. Where is the bore and jacking operation paid for?
Answer: Bore and jack operations and the steel casing will as defined
in Sections 02445, Boring and Jacking, and 02446, Steel
Casing Pipe, will be paid for under Bid Item No. 8. This includes, but not limited to, pavement
removal and restoration, excavation, backfill,
compaction, materials and labor needed to complete the
bore & jack operations, shoring and bracing, over
excavation, and control of groundwater.
Question
18. What is the size of the hatch specified for the flow meter?
Answer: Hatch size is shown correctly. Width of vault is 4 feet, not 4.5 feet.
Clarification is shown on the revised plan sheet C502
included in Addendum No. 1.
Question
19. System description (Section 02532) 1.4 indicates a duplex
pump station, but the controls are set up for a single.
Answer:
Each pump station is a duplex pump station.
Question
20. Pump Design Par. 1.5 & 1.6 (Section 02532) does not
indicate what the suction lift will be.
Answer: Suction for lift for pump station 1 is 17 feet. Suction for
lift for pump station 2 is 20 feet.
Question
21. Paragraph. 1.7 (Section 02532) Submittals, Part B Tasks about
a basin size and cover dimensions? No basin indicated
Answer: Pump stations will draft out of leachate ponds. No basins will be used. Submittal
on basin not required.
Question
22. Paragraph 1.10 (Section 02532) Qualifications, C.
Specifications require a licensed California Engineer to
design or be under his supervision. The specified and
named station was designed by licensed factory engineers
in Ohio--the location of the factory.
Answer:
An Ohio State License will be adequate as long as the
other qualifications are met.
Question
23. Paragraph 2.2 (Section 02532) Pumps. Motor specified as oil
filled?
Answer: Motor is not submerged. Oil filled motor not necessary.
Question
24. Paragraph 2.5 (Section 02532), Source Quality Control, Part A2-3: Refers to submerged motor and
pump.
Answer Motor is not submerged, disregard.
Question
25. Paragraph 2.5 (Section 02532), Adjusting, Part B refers to
basin.
Answer:
Disregard adjustment to basin. Pump
stations will draft out of leachate ponds. No basins will be used.
The
information provided is not considered a material change
per Section 4104.5 of the Public Contracts Code.
Please fill out the Addendum section of the Bid
Form [Division I, Document 00400, Page 1, 3(a)]
acknowledging receipt of the Addendum No. 2.
