I.    Changes to Special Provisions: 

A.  Add the following paragraph to Page SP-51, Section 10-1.23A, “General” following the fifth paragraph: 

"The first lift of asphalt concrete base shall be placed by end-dumping the asphalt concrete on the subgrade enhancement fabric and shall be 0.50-foot thick compacted.  No construction equipment will be allowed on the fabric until it is covered with sufficient asphalt concrete to produce the compacted lift of 0.50-foot.  The second lift of asphalt concrete base shall be placed with a paving machine and shall not exceed 0.40-foot compacted." 

B.     Insert the following paragraph after the last paragraph of Section 10-1.23A, “General,” on Page     SP-51: 

 Payment
Full compensation for placement of asphalt concrete shall be considered to be as included in the   contract price paid per ton of paving asphalt and aggregate for asphalt concrete.

C.     Replace the first paragraph of Section 10-1.23G, “Spreading and Compacting (General)” on Page   SP-55 with the following: 

The seventh paragraph of Section 39-6.01, “General Requirements,” of the Standard Specifications is amended to read:

When the total compacted thickness of asphalt concrete is shown on the plans to be less than 0.25-foot, asphalt concrete shall be spread and compacted in one layer.  All other asphalt concrete shall be spread and compacted in layers.  The top layer of asphalt concrete shall be not more than 0.20-foot or less than 0.15-foot in compacted thickness.  The next lower layer shall not be more than 0.25-foot or less than 0.15-foot in compacted thickness unless the total thickness is shown on the plans to be less than 0.30-foot, and any lower layers shall be not less than 0.15-foot or more than 0.40-foot in compacted thickness except the bottom layer.

D.     Replace the second paragraph of Section 10-1.23I, “Place Asphalt Concrete (Miscellaneous Areas)” on Page SP-58 with the following:

The price paid for square yard of “Place Asphalt Concrete (Miscellaneous Areas)” shall include furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals for doing the work involved for completing the work as shown on the plans.  “Miscellaneous Areas” are driveways only. 

Please fill out the Addendum Acknowledgment sheet (Page BB-5 of the Bidder's Book) verifying your receipt of this Addendum (Addendum No. 2).
