 ADDENDUM NO. 1

I.   Changes to the Special Provisions:

     A.  Page SP-49, add the following section:

          10-1.14G  REMOVE AND SALVAGE METAL BEAM GUARD RAILING:  At the locations shown on the details herein, existing metal beam guard railing shall be removed and salvaged.

          All components of the existing railing shall be salvaged.

          Salvaged guard railing shall be hauled to the County's Road Stock Yard at:

                2175 Airport Blvd.
                Santa Rosa CA 9545-7432)

         Salvaged materials shall be cleaned of all earth and other foreign materials.

          Materials that are to be salvaged and which are damaged as a result of the Contractor's operations shall be repaired by the Contractor, at his expense, to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Materials that are damaged beyond repair as a result of the Contractor's operations shall be disposed of as provided in Section 7-1.13, "Disposal of Materials Outside the Highway Right of Way," of the Standard Specifications, and replaced at his expense, or, at the discretion of the Engineer, the estimated cost of replacement may be deducted from any monies due or to become due to the Contractor.

          Replacements for lost or damaged materials shall be of the same kind and of the same or better quality and condition as the lost or damaged materials were prior to their removal.

           Materials designated to be salvaged that are damaged, as determined by the Engineer, shall be segregated from the undamaged material. The damaged material shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be disposed of outside the highway right of way in accordance with Section 7-1.13 of the Standard Specifications.

            Salvaged metal beam guard railing shall be measured by the linear foot in the same manner specified in Section 83, "Railings and Barriers," of the Standard Specifications for measuring the construction of new railing of the same type as the railing being salvaged. Terminal sections will not be measured.

             Full compensation for removing and salvaging metal beam guard railing shall be considered as included in the linear foot contract price paid for metal beam guard railing and no additional payment will be made therefore.

Please fill out the Addendum Acknowledgment sheet in the Proposal (page BB-7 of the Bidder's Book) verifying your receipt of this Addendum.
