
This Enterprise Fund finances Integrated Waste Management activities throughout the County and is a division of the Sonoma County Transportation & Public Works Department. Activities include: maintenance of closed sanitary landfills, including a methane gas recovery-electrical generating facility, and five transfer stations; regulation of seven commercial refuse haulers; and development, administration and implementation of the Sonoma County Integrated Waste Management Plan. This division also provides staff support to the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency (a joint powers agreement).
The LTF was created and its members appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors for the following purposes:
. To perform duties assigned to the Local Task Force (LTF) as defined by AB 939 and other related state laws.
. To provide advice to the jurisdictions of Sonoma County on the implementation of the Countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan.
. To provide a forum for public discussion of solid waste management, waste reduction, and recycling issues.
LTF members typically meet on the second Thursday every other month from 1:30 pm.-3 pm. Meetings are open to the public.
