Welcome to the Sonoma County Strategic Planning Web Site

On July 8, 2008 the Board of Supervisors approved the Implementation Plan for the Sonoma County Strategic Plan. Implementation will occur through a series of projects tied directly to the Strategic Plans Goals and Objectives. The Implementation Plan is explained in the July 8 staff report to the Board, in combination with the Grid of Major Projects, a GANTT Chart summarizing project plans, and a series of Project Charters.

The Board adopted the final version of the Strategic Plan in December, 2007. It is the result of a process initiated by the Board in December 2005 in response to the various changes and challenges facing the County. The staff report to the Board of Supervisors and the final version of the Sonoma County Strategic Plan are available.

The final version of the Strategic Plan follows several months of public comment on a Draft Plan adopted by the Board on August 7, 2007. Video is available of the Board discussion that day. The public comments are summarized in a report prepared by The Results Group, which coordinated that effort on behalf of the County.

As part of the Strategic Planning process, the County conducted an extensive Analysis Phase to examine major County trends, challenges, and opportunities, and a Planning Phase to provide recommendations on how to address the findings from the Analysis Phase.
