Welcome to the Sonoma County Strategic Planning Web SiteOn October 27, 2009 the Board of Supervisors reaffirmed the Goals of the Sonoma County Strategic Plan (PDF: 105k). The Board also approved establishing two Ad Hoc Committees to further consider upstream investments (Supervisors Kerns and Zane) and engagement with the community and other jurisdictions (Supervisors Carrillo and Brown). The Board also directed staff to add the County’s efforts on greenhouse gas reductions and related efforts to the Strategic Plan as part of a future Board review. The staff report (PDF: 42k) and presentation to the Board (PDF: 973k) are available. On August 18, 2009 the Board of Supervisors approved the first annual Strategic Plan Status Report. This Report provided an update on the projects that are implementing the Strategic Plan, included amendments to the Implementation Plan to make implementation and reporting more efficient, and requested Board approval to hold a workshop to discuss the Strategic Plan overall in more depth. On July 8, 2008 the Board of Supervisors approved the Implementation Plan for the Sonoma County Strategic Plan. Implementation will occur through a series of projects tied directly to the Strategic Plans Goals and Objectives. The Implementation Plan is explained in the July 8 staff report to the Board, in combination with the Grid of Major Projects, a GANTT Chart summarizing project plans, and a series of Project Charters. The Board adopted the final version of the Strategic Plan in December, 2007. It is the result of a process initiated by the Board in December 2005 in response to the various changes and challenges facing the County. The staff report (PDF: 164k) to the Board of Supervisors and the final version of the Sonoma County Strategic Plan are available. The final version of the Strategic Plan follows several months of public comment on a Draft Plan adopted by the Board on August 7, 2007. Video is available of the Board discussion that day. The public comments are summarized in a report prepared by The Results Group (PDF: 1M), which coordinated that effort on behalf of the County. As part of the Strategic Planning process, the County conducted an extensive Analysis Phase to examine major County trends, challenges, and opportunities, and a Planning Phase to provide recommendations on how to address the findings from the Analysis Phase (PDF: 94k). This site provides access to all relevant Strategic Plan documents. We welcome your input and appreciate your interest and participation.
