Course Description

The purpose of this course is to familiarize participants with the correct use of the equipment used for emergency communication (phone, fax, radio, email, two-way radios). This course will also familiarize participants with ham radios, wireless technology, text messaging, e-mail, megaphones, intercom systems, digital and video cameras, Blackberry wireless devices, satellite phones and smart phones.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

Describe three communications devices used in an emergency event.
Discuss the advantages and the disadvantages of at least three different communications devices discussed in class.
Explain the difference between satellite phones, two-way radios and ham radios.
Demonstrate the correct use of all communication equipment used for emergency communication.
