Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the visiting hours at Juvenile Hall?

A: Parent(s) or legal guardian(s) may visit, at a reasonable hour, once before the regular visiting day. Regular visiting days vary depending on the Unit in which a juvenile is located.

Please call 565-6300 for information on specific visiting hours.

Q: I am unable to control my child. Can I bring him/her to Juvenile Hall, Probation Camp, or the Sierra Youth Center?

A: No; the Probation Department is an arm of the Superior Court, and only law enforcement agencies and others designated by the court may bring a youth to a juvenile institution. However, Probation Officers routinely work with counselors, school officials, and other professionals who provide services to troubled families.

Please call 565-6229 and ask to speak to the Officer of the Day if you would like to be referred to a local resource agency.
