Sanitation Sewer

A sanitary sewer system collects and transports waste from indoor plumbing fixtures to treatment plants. You can visit the front Engineering Cubicle at Permit Sonoma to discuss the permitting requirements for any of the following eleven sanitary sewer systems:

District Name
South Park Sanitation District
Graton Community Service District
Sea Ranch Sanitation Zone
Sonoma Valley Sanitation District
Occidental Sanitation District
Penngrove Sanitation Zone
Russian River Sanitation District
Geyserville Sanitation Zone
Airport-Larkfield-Wikiup Sanitation Zone
Canon Manor

Community service districts (CSD) are separate legal entities, own their assets and infrastructure. The County Board of Supervisors acts at the CSD Board of Directors except for the Sonoma Valley CSD (which is comprised of the Mayor of Sonoma, the First District Supervisor, and the County Board of Supervisors’ Chair). Sanitation zones (SZ) have assets and infrastructure owned by the Sonoma County Water Agency with the County Board of Supervisors acting as the zone Board of Directors. Graton elects their own Board of Directors. Sewage from the Canon Manor area is governed by the City of Rohnert Park (with waste going to the City of Santa Rosa Llano wastewater treatment plant). Permit Sonoma issues building sewer permits for Forestville.
