Scope of the General Plan UpdateThe Sonoma County Board of Supervisors (Board) has directed the Permit and Resource Management Department (PRMD) to prepare an "issue-focused" update, referred to as GP 2020. A preliminary list of issues that will be considered is based upon the findings of a Status Report prepared on the current General Plan; comments received at the November 30, 2000 Planning Agency meeting on the General Plan update; and other input received from the Board, planning staff, and the public at large. These issues are those which are of continuing importance, have proven problematic under the existing plan, have arisen since adoption of the General Plan, and as such warrant consideration during the update process. The Board has also directed that a public outreach effort be conducted to solicit input from the citizens of Sonoma County regarding additional issues that may warrant consideration. PRMD is developing a public participation program that includes several community meetings, scattered throughout the County in late July and August, 2001. These issues-identification meetings are being designed to facilitate public input in a well-organized but informal atmosphere. In addition, citizens may send comments regarding the scope of the update effort via this Website, or by mail, to the GP 2020 project team. The deadline for comments will be one week following the last of the summer 2001 community meetings. Following the July and August community meetings, the Board will hold a public meeting designed to consider the General Plan issues identified during the public outreach effort. The Board will consider these issues and modify the scope of the GP 2020 effort as appropriate. | |
