Question

What kind of maps do you have?

Answer

The PRMD Geographic Information System (PRMD/GIS) product price list includes base maps, land maps, resource maps, and aerial/ortho photo maps. These cover the entire county at several scales.

The digital data layers include both the graphical features (such as road lines) and the tabular data (items such as address range, etc). All of the data layers built by the county are copyrighted.

The following maps and data CD’s are available for purchase at PRMD.

Question

Does PRMD have Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data available?

Answer

Yes - we offer several data layers on CD’s for sale in ESRI shapefile format. See the product price list.

There are also free downloadable shapefiles and aerials available on the GIS Portal at https://gis.sonoma-county.org/

Other data may be available from ISD GIS Central by calling the GIS Request Line at 707-565-3819 or via e-mail at gis@sonoma-county.org

Question

Do you produce custom maps?

Answer

Not at this time, however our GIS Technicians can assist with locating your area of interest using your Assessor Parcel Number (APN) or a correct street address. This information can then be used to create a semi-custom map using the available PRMD data layers. See the product price list.

Question

How do I locate my property on PRMD's maps?

Answer

PRMD GIS techs will assist you with this when you visit the department.

Question

What is my parcel number?

Answer

The Assessor's Parcel Number is the number assigned to a parcel by the County Assessor for property tax assessment purposes. This number is located on your property tax bill as shown below. If you don't have a tax bill available, we can locate the property if you provide us with the street address and the owner's name. Please call (707) 565-1900 during planner phone hours and ask to speak with the planner phone.

Question What size and scale do PRMD/GIS maps come in?
Answer

Our maps come in 3 standard sizes:

8-1/2 x 11 inches (A size)
11 x 17 inches (B size)
33 x 43 inches (E size)

Not all maps are available in all sizes. See the product price list.

Scale is dependent on the resolution at which the data is best viewed. Unless instructed otherwise we will print at the sharpest clarity.

Question

How can I get a copy of an Ordinance map that shows re-zoning information?

Answer

Copies of adopted ordinances which officially changed the zoning on a particular property are available from the Board of Supervisor's office.

Question

How can I get a flood determination on my property?

Answer

The staff at the Storm Water cubicle at PRMD can make the flood determination.
You may also purchase a site-specific zoning map, which shows the F1 Floodway and F2 Floodplain.

Question

What is the Groundwater Availability Zone for my property?

Answer

The staff at the Well and Septic cubicle at PRMD can make the Groundwater Availability determination.
You may also purchase a Groundwater Availability map. See the product price list.

Although every effort is made to provide complete and accurate information on this website, users are advised to contact appropriate PRMD staff before making project decisions. This may involve contacting more than one section within PRMD (e.g. Building, Plan Check, Zoning, Well & Septic, etc.), since each section implements specific codes or ordinances which may affect your project.
