RELEASE: Immediate
DATE: January 10, 2012
SUBJECT: Dog Swim at Spring Lake Regional Park

The favorite event of Sonoma County canines is back!

The swimming lagoon at Spring Lake Regional Park will turn into a leash-free dog park on Monday, Jan. 16th.  Dogs will get to frolic in the lagoon from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for this one-day special event. The lagoon is at 393 Violetti Road in Santa Rosa.

The Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation and the Sonoma County Water Agency sponsored the first “Water Bark” dog swim last summer, and the event was a smash hit. With the unseasonably mild weather this winter, conditions are perfect for another Water Bark, so grab a tennis ball and let your four-legged friends make a splash at Spring Lake Park on Monday.

The Parks Foundation is requesting donations of $3 per dog for Regional Park members and $5 per dog for non-members. Proceeds will benefit Spring Lake Park. Parking near the lagoon is free for members and $6 for non-members.

(Due to health regulations, only dogs will be allowed to swim during this event.)

For more information, call Spring Lake Park at (707) 539-8092 or email Ranger Jonathan Umholtz at Jonathan.Umholtz@sonoma-county.org.
