SUBJECT: WHO KNEW? ECO-KAZOOS!

Who knew you could make a kazoo out of recycled materials? The Environmental Discovery Center of Sonoma County (EDC), known for its expertise in cultivating creativity and imagination in children, is helping kids make free crafts from recycled goods every day from 1 – 3 pm in the Sustainable Sonoma County exhibit at this year’s Sonoma County Fair.

Back by popular demand, the Sustainable Sonoma County exhibit entertains as it educates fairgoers about environmentally friendly and healthy living practices. From eating locally to thinking globally, this exciting, well-trafficked fair venue provided a new focus to the 2008 Fair and won accolades from visitors and exhibitors alike.

“We are providing information on how children and their families can live a more sustainable life” states Kristina Stanton of the EDC. “And we are making kazoos out of toilet paper rolls!”  Staff will have other recycled musical instruments to try out, including coffee can drums and plastic bottle shakers. There will be take-home information on how to make your own recycled musical instruments, along with information on easy things to do to help the Earth.
