SUBJECT: SONOMA COUNTY iWALK KICKS OFF IN THE REGIONAL PARKS

Sonoma County Regional Parks is partnering with the Sonoma County Health Action on the weekend of May 16-17, 2009 to kick-off the iWALK Initiative for the purpose of celebrating and expanding our population’s commitment to healthy living.

Join the free, guided walk scheduled in your closest or favorite regional park, including:

May 16

  • Riverfront Regional Park with Naturalist Bill Arenander
    7821 Eastside Road, Windsor 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

  • Ragle Ranch Regional Park with Naturalist Ryan Branche - in Spanish & English
    500 Ragle Road, Sebastopol 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

  • Foothill Regional Park with Windsor Parks Commissioner Bernadette Torres - in Spanish & English. 1351 Arata Lane, Windsor 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

  • Sonoma Valley Regional Park with Parks Commissioner Karen Collins 13630 Sonoma Highway 12, Glen Ellen 10 am – Noon

May 17

  • Joe Rodota Trail with Ranger Jesse Cablk and Supervisor Efren Carrillo - in Spanish & English
    Meet at Prince Memorial Greenway bridge on creek trail west of Railroad Ave in Santa Rosa 3:00 – 4:30 pm

  • Tolay Lake Regional Park with Ranger Scott Beck
    Off Lakeville Highway in Petaluma
    Call (707) 565-2730 for reservation (required) and directions 10 am – noon

  • Shiloh Regional Park with “Mary & Martin Hikes” www.maryandmartinhikes.com
    5750 Faught Road, Santa Rosa
    A 4-mile hike with 700’ elevation gain. Bring snacks and/or lunch 10am - Noon
