| SUBJECT: |
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HABITAT RESTORATION AT DORAN REGIONAL PARK |
Join Sonoma County Regional Parks staff and community volunteers on Sunday, March 1st from 9:00am – noon as we plant over 200 native plants near the mouth of Cheney Creek at Doran Regional Park in Bodega Bay. Most plants are small and can be planted by hand, so volunteers of all ages are welcome.
Last summer, a 110’ pedestrian bridge was installed over Cheney Creek, connecting Doran Park to the Bird Walk Coastal Access trail. During the construction, some of the native vegetation had to be removed. The planting is part of a larger mitigation effort to restore and improve the area surrounding the new bridge.
Volunteers should arrive at Doran Regional Park, 201 Doran Beach Road, by 9:00am or take the free shuttle from the Regional Parks main office at 2300 County Center Drive. The shuttle will leave at 8:00 am and return by 1:00pm. You must R.S.V.P. by Thursday, February 26th to reserve a space on the shuttle. Please contact John Ryan, Parks Volunteer Coordinator, at (707) 565-3356 or parksvolunteer@sonoma-county.org
