APRIL 6 TOOL ROUNDUP BENEFITS LOCAL PARKS |
Collection of new & used tools will help volunteers maintain parks
SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA - March 11, 2008 - The Sonoma County Regional Parks Department and Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation will host a Tool Roundup on Sunday, April 6 from 1-5 p.m. The event will be held at Spring Lake Park, at the lower parking lot near the Violetti Road entrance. Parks Foundation volunteers will collect new and gently used tools, which will be used by staff and more than 200 volunteers to help preserve and maintain the County's 43 regional parks. For more information, call (707) 565-2041.
The Parks Foundation has the greatest demand for the following tools: pruners, trowels, shovels, axes, saws, drills and small saw horses. Cash donations also are welcome. Each person who donates a tool will be eligible for a raffle prize, and contributions are tax-deductible. Generous sponsors REI, Basin Street Properties, Home Depot/Yardbirds and Cagwin & Dorward already are supporting the event.
This event is part of the 2008 Parks Celebration. Visit www.sonoma-county.org/parks/ for information about the Celebration.
