RELEASED BY: Donna LaGraffe, Regional Parks
CONTACT: John Ryan, Volunteer Coordinator, (707) 565-2041
RELEASE:  IMMEDIATE
TODAY'S DATE: August 8, 2006
SUBJECT:

SONOMA CREEK CLEAN UP

Sonoma County Regional Parks invites members of the local community to a Creek Clean-up at Maxwell Farms Regional Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 19th, 2006. Join your neighbors as we take an important step in protecting Sonoma Creek for future generations.

Volunteers will remove trash and other debris from the section of Sonoma Creek that runs through this park. Last year, a full dumpster’s worth of debris, including old bicycles, engine parts, and mattresses, was pulled from the creek. Park staff separates and recycles everything possible. Volunteers should bring gloves, and wear long pants, long sleeves and sturdy shoes that they don’t mind getting wet.

Maxwell Farms Regional Park is located at 100 Verano Avenue in Sonoma. Drinks, pastries and fruit will be served during the orientation at 9:00am in the parking lot. For more information contact John Ryan at 707-565-3356 or volunteer@sonoma-county.org.
