JOIN THE APRIL CELEBRATION OF SONOMA COUNTY REGIONAL PARKS!

Nineteen events in thirty days? How do we do it? With you, of course! Come join Regional Parks staff and volunteers on these FREE fun and diverse park outings in April! It’s our way of saying “Thanks for your support…now come out and play!”

Saturday, April 1

  • Eco-Fun at the Environmental Discovery Center, Spring Lake Park, 1-5pm. Info: 539-2865. Spend an afternoon learning about our local ecology. Especially for elementary school families!

Sunday, April 2

  • Coastal Horseback Ride, Doran Regional Park. 11:30am in the saddle. Info: 565-2041 Join Ranger Assistant Rowe for an easy ride on the beach. Bring your own mount.

Friday, April 7

  • Bird Walk, Riverfront Regional Park, 9-11am. Info: 433-1625 Docent-led walk to view the Great Blue Heron nesting areas.

Saturday, April 8

  • Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival, Westside Regional Park. Info: 875-3704.

Sunday, April 9

  • Ice Cream Social, Kenwood Plaza Park, 1-4pm. Info: 565-4021. Join Park Rangers for an old-fashioned Sunday afternoon in the park. Games for the kids!
  • Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival, Westside Regional Park. Info: 875-3704

Friday, April 14

  • Old-Fashioned Campfire Stories, Spring Lake Park group campground, 7-8:30pm. Info: 565-2041 Rangers will have fun with “Creatures of the Night.” Cocoa and s'mores provided. Bring seating. Great family fun!

Saturday, April 15

  • Wildflower Walk, Shiloh Ranch Regional Park. 10am-noon, 565-2041. Rugged hike in search of spring flowers. Led by Phil Dean.
  • Castles & Kites, Doran Regional Park, 10am-3pm. Info: 565-2041 Fly a kite and build a castle of sand at this fun family event at Doran Park. Enjoy kite demos and expert castle builders.
  • Hike Hood Mountain, Hood Mountain Regional Park, 9am-4pm. Info: 565-2041. Join Park Rangers on a challenging hike exploring Hood Mountain.

Thursday, April 20

  • Rock Cycle Family Walk, Foothill Regional Park. Noon-3pm. Info: 539-2865. A great family learning experience incorporating the natural history of the park and descriptions of the geological processes that formed it. Great for elementary school families!

Saturday, April 22

  • Wildflower Walk, Ragle Ranch Regional Park, 10am-noon, 565-2041 Spring bursts to life in Sebastopol with the blooming of the wildflowers.
  • Walk Through the Redwoods to School, Stillwater Regional Park, 11-1pm. Info: 847-3245. A walk in the tall redwoods along the creek to historic Fort Ross School.
  • Tidepool Walk, Doran Beach Regional Park, 1:30pm. Info: 565-2041. Explore the undersea life of Bodega Harbor with Ranger Wolvek. Especially for elementary school children. In Spanish & English.
  • Kid’s Earth Day, “Homenaje a la Tierra para Ninos”, Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 10am-2pm. Info: 565-2041. Bilingual Earth Day festival for elementary school children. Fun and educational activities promoting our wonderful natural resources.

Sunday, April 23

  • Family Bike Ride, Spring Lake Regional Park, 9-11am. Info: 565-2041. Ranger-led safety talk and bike ride on paved trails. Bring helmets!
  • Bike Rodeo, Ragle Ranch Regional Park. Noon-2pm. Info: 565-2041. A bicycle safety clinic for children featuring bike safety inspections and education. The main attraction is a bike safety skills course.

Tuesday, April 25

  • Wildflower Walk, Doran Regional Park, 1pm. Info: 565-2041. Easy walk along sandy beach trails enjoying coastal spring flowers.

Sunday, April 30

  • Doggie Day, Elizabeth Perrone Dog Park, Sonoma Valley Regional Park, 10am- 2pm. Info: 565-2041. A fun day of doggie games, information and booths. Dogs, bring your humans!
