FREE FISHING DAY JUNE 11 |

Summer is almost here, and the fishing is free on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Sonoma County Regional Parks encourages the public to try their hand at fishing one of the 20 regional parks with fishing access on that day, and they won’t have to have a fishing license to do it!
County parks offering freshwater fishing include Foothill in Windsor, Spring Lake in Santa Rosa, Steelhead Beach in Forestville, Cloverdale River Park, and the new Riverfront Regional Park in Windsor. Anglers can try their ocean fishing skills at Spud Point Marina, Gualala Point, Stillwater Cove, or launch a fishing boat from Westside or Doran Regional Parks in Bodega Bay.
The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) coordinates two annual free fishing days with the National Free Fishing Day occasions held every June and September. These events allow anyone who wants to experience the joys of fishing to cast a line without purchasing a fishing license. All other fishing regulations, such as bag and size limits, gear restrictions, fishing hours and stream closures, remain in effect. Park day-use fees are still applicable.
