Human Resources Recruitments:
Selection and Placement

The Human Resources Department's Operations Division assists County departments in meeting their staffing needs. Operations staff analyze positions to determine required knowledge, skills and abilities. They develop testing and selection methods to provide departments with high quality candidates to fill their jobs.  As staff to the Civil Service Commission, they recommend policy and rule changes, conduct classification studies and respond to examination appeals.

Major services:

  • Staff support to the Civil Service Commission.
  • Analysis to identify job class duties and required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Maintenance of County job classification system.
  • Recruiting and testing to fill vacant County positions.
  • Promotional exams and transfer opportunities for career enhancement.
  • Referral of transfer or reappointment candidates to vacancies.
  • Compliance with Civil Service Rules on lay-off and reinstatement.
