Look for the sign at your favorite outdoor restaurant, deli, café or coffee shop. If you don’t see it, ask for Smoke-Free Outdoor Dining.

The Sonoma County Smoke-Free Outdoor Dining project is a campaign to increase smoke-free outdoor dining opportunities in Sonoma County.
The project is designed to identify
and promote restaurants and other dining establishments that are
completely smoke-free and to encourage others to join them in adopting
similar smoke-free outdoor dining policies.
Why would a restaurant owner/manager
decide to offer smoke-free outdoor dining? As scientific evidence
documenting the health hazards associated with secondhand smoke
continues to mount, so do the reasons for protecting employees and
patrons from exposure to these chemicals.
Chefs the world over agree that the
enjoyment of a meal is enhanced by the aromas of the food –
aromas that are masked by tobacco smoke.
And, since 86% of people in Sonoma
County choose not to smoke, it makes good business sense to accommodate
their desire for clean air dining.
