The Program coordinates planning and evaluation for HIV prevention activities and administers HIV prevention funds through a network of community-based agencies.

It provides staff support to the Prevention Planning Group (PPG) of the Commission on AIDS, an advisory body composed of individuals from affected communities, community-based organizations, private and public health care providers. The PPG gathers input from constituencies throughout the community in the development and design of HIV prevention strategies.

The Program conducts training and education on HIV prevention for the general public, professionals and community volunteers. The HIV/AIDS Prevention Program coordinates planning, development and evaluation for the local HIV prevention social marketing campaign and coordinates the Positively Speaking Program for Sonoma County.
