Hepatitis C Task Force

Prevention Training
The Hepatitis C Task Force is made up of non-profit groups, primary health care providers and county representatives. The Task Force seeks to prevent the spread of HCV through public education, targeted testing and timely referral to treatment and health education. During 2003, the Task Force sponsored a public forum to increase knowledge and awareness by health care providers and the general public. Task Force members have also partnered on a series of HCV information sessions for community groups who serve at risk populations, and have increased targeted education and testing for high-risk individuals. Between May 2001 and April 2004, over 3,700 high-risk individuals were tested. Approximately 17% tested positive for the Hepatitis C virus.
