Health Alert: Mushroom Poisonings

Santa Rosa, CA - Sonoma County Public Health has received information that dried mushrooms may have been sold as hallucinogens called "magic mushrooms" in the vicinity of the following areas:

  • South Park in Santa Rosa
  • Petaluma Hill Road in Santa Rosa
  • Old Redwood highway in Petaluma in the vicinity of Steel Bear Deli
  • Sebastopol Ave in Santa Rosa near Quick Stop and Perry's Deli, and in the vicinity of neighboring apartment complexes
  • Near or around River Rock Casino

The mushrooms may have been sold on the street in plastic bags, and are described as small and silver in color. These mushrooms have caused severe liver illness in two individuals. If you have bought any of these mushrooms please do not eat them. If you think you have eaten these mushrooms, and have illness of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, please see your doctor immediately. Please inform your doctor that you have eaten mushrooms.
