Families First

Families First is a free home visiting program for first-time parents who reside in Sonoma County. The focus is to provide support to new parents after their first baby is born, and help provide the best start for each new family.

Families First provides new mothers and fathers with:

• Free home visits tailored to their needs and interests
• Support as a new parent
• Free gifts for baby's health and safety
• Breastfeeding education and support
• Answers to questions about the new baby
• Ways to learn about infant development
• Information about local resources

Participants in Families First, who must reside in Sonoma County, receive three home visits during their baby's first year, at no cost. All services are available in English and Spanish. Home visitors are warm caring professionals, and include:

• Nurses and other health professionals
• Parent educators
• Child development specialists

This website provides information for first-time parents. After the baby is born, parents can request a free home visit using our online "Request a Visit" form. Information and resources for FFHV agencies are also available.
