Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette Program
MRC Volunteer Training Module
This training module is designed to provide licensed MRC volunteers with the knowledge and tools to successfully conduct hand hygiene presentations for elementary school children in a classroom setting. All licensed MRC volunteers who participate in the hand hygiene program are required to view this training module prior to being scheduled for their first presentation.
Course Objectives
By the end of this module, the MRC volunteer will be able to:
- State the goals of the hand hygiene program.
- Understand hand hygiene content using guidelines from the CDC and Henry the Hand's "4 Principles of Hand Awareness."
- Use the content as a teaching tool to deliver one hand hygiene program per year.

Step 3: Notify the program coordinator, Ann Baechler at 565-4579, that you have completed the training module.
Step 4: Receive your first presentation assignment, then go out and have fun teaching students about the importance of hand hygiene!
You are now ready to conduct a hand hygiene presentation! We will coordinate your availablity with the scheduling requests of the schools. When your presentation is scheduled, we will provide you with handouts, a ball, stickers, a music CD, and hand gel to use during your presentation.
The success of the Sonoma County hand hygiene program would not be possible without the generous contributions of time and effort provided by our Sonoma County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers.
