Health Profile 2000

Health Profile 2000 is a comprehensive public health data resource that provides comparisons of local health data with Healthy People 2000 Objectives (national health promotion and disease prevention objectives), evaluations of health trends, and discussions of differences in health among subgroups in the County.

p. 1

In Figure 1.1 (map), the town of Gualala is inaccurately shown as being located within Sonoma County. Gualala is located just north of the Sonoma County border on the coast and is actually a part of Mendocino County.

p. 31 In Table 4.2, the total for 1994 should be 29, and the total for 1998 should be 36.

p. 32

In the bullet under "Child Care," numbers of shortages of childcare places are provided. While these numbers are correct, Family Action of Sonoma County estimates the total shortfall at 7,373, factoring new spaces and use of non-formal care that will cover 50% of the shortages of childcare places.

In Figure 5.1, the labels for "Reported cases" and "Deaths" are reversed. Deaths are represented by the white bar, while reported cases are represented by the solid black line.

In Figure 6.2, the cancer death rates shown for Sonoma County and California are for 1998, not 1997.

In Figure 6.5, the breast cancer death rates shown for Sonoma County and California are for the total population (i.e., both females and males), while the Healthy People 2000 Objective applies to females only. The 1998 female breast cancer death rate for Sonoma County was 16.7 per 100,000 females (95% confidence interval = 12.0, 21.4). The 1998 female breast cancer death rate for California was 17.6 per 100,000 females (95% confidence interval = 17.0, 18.2).
