The chief duty of the Mental Health Board is to advocate and promote recovery for those with mental illness by identifying culturally relevant needs, monitoring cost-effective strategies, and making recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors. The specific duties of the Board are set out in the California Welfare and Institutions Code section 5604.2.
The community is invited to attend all Mental Health Board meetings. Call (707) 565-4850 to verify that the meeting is taking place, to inquire about the special presentation, to suggest a future presentation topic, or to be placed on the mailing list.
Please note that draft minutes are posted prior to approval for information only. Final approved minutes are posted after the minutes are approved at the next Board meeting.
The 15-member Mental Health Board advises the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the Mental Health division of the Department of Health Services on the planning and development of public mental health programs and services in the county. It consists of consumers, family members, professionals and business people who are appointed by the Supervisor of their district.
