Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) Information
Like a regular fluorescent bulb, a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) contains trace amounts of mercury. You must dispose of your CFLs as you do your other toxic materials. Take unbroken bulbs to a toxic materials drop off site, or return them to the store where you purchased them if you are unsure. Visit the Sonoma County Toxic Disposal Calendar for times and places to take your expired CFL bulbs. If a CFL Breaks don't panic! Evacuate and air out the room, and follow these easy clean up steps.
