Energy and Sustainability Division

The Energy and Sustainability division is responsible for the planning, evaluation and administration of programs designed to reduce the County’s impact on the environment.

Services include long and short range energy procurement and environmentally preferable purchasing strategies. Our division manages energy efficiency and sustainability programs, and directs the County’s employee commute planning efforts.

We have helped Sonoma County become a leader in “green thinking,” by modeling sustainable practices and developing regional alliances to identify, develop and implement a sustainable future.

Energy Independence Program

The Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) is a new opportunity for property owners to finance energy efficiency, water efficiency and renewable energy improvements through a voluntary assessment. Bay Area Air Quality Management District and Sonoma County

The County of Sonoma is working with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to help other government agencies and non-profits learn how to develop their own greenhouse gas baselines and begin reducing their emissions. Sonoma County Energy Watch

Sonoma County Energy Watch (SCEW) is a partnership between the County of Sonoma and the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). We are committed to changing the way the County of Sonoma uses energy. Energy Watch is a unique program that is available to Sonoma County government agencies, non-profits, small businesses, and residents. With SCEW, we can actively work to reduce our carbon emissions, reduce the energy demand of our County, and save energy and money.

Learn How to Manage and Charge Them

Also watch a live online product demonstration of what Sonoma County is using to charge and manage their electric fleet: Coulomb's ChargePoint ® Networked Charging Stations and Fleet Management Portal. This product provides electric vehicle performance data and graphs for easy tracking, monitoring and exporting of electric vehicle data on a per-charging-session basis. Learn how web-based and smart phone-based notification are available if a vehicle is not returned (or plugged in) by a designated time, and when a car is completely charged. This information is vital data for electrical fleet management.
