Sonoma County Film Office

History of Film Office

In 1974-75, the County of Sonoma created a film coordinator's position with the Sonoma County Economic Development Board. The film coordination efforts were subsequently placed under the direction of the Sonoma County Public Information Office.

In 1983, the newly formed Sonoma County Convention & Visitors Bureau took over the Film/Video Commission as one of its three marketing divisions. The County supported this effort and all film-coordinating activities were centered in the new division of this Bureau.

In 1998, the Film Office returned to the Economic Development Board of Sonoma County where it works to stimulate the local economy through increased local jobs and business opportunities brought about through film and related projects.
