The Fire Services Division coordinates all
fire service activities in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma
County (County Service Area #40), including:
- Advising the Board of Supervisors on fire service issues,
- Assisting with disaster/emergency response planning,
- Responding to emergency incidents, and
- Reviewing program and policy matters with the Board of
Supervisors.

Permit and Inspection Services:
The Division provides plan check and inspection services for
fire-related code compliance in coordination with the Permit
and Resource Management Department, and administers contracts
for fire prevention, code enforcement and plan review for
local fire districts.

| Incident
Response:
The Division responds to emergency incidents
as part of the Hazardous Materials Response Team, Fire Investigation
Task Force, Emergency Operations Center staff and for fire
ground supervision, along with local fire agencies and the
State Department of Forestry (CDF). In addition, CDF responds
to State Responsibility Areas (SRA) wildland fires within
the county.
Training:
The Division oversees and trains the fifteen
all-volunteer fire agencies, as well as provide administrative
support for four dependent fire zones within CSA #40 (Sea
Ranch, Fitch Mountain, Dry Creek and Wilmar) and two Community
Facilities Districts (CFD#4 Wilmar and CFD #5 Dry Creek).
