County of Sonoma Department of Emergency Services

The Department of Emergency Services provides service to the citizens of Sonoma County and is prepared to meet their needs in a variety of ways. The Department consists of four divisions (Administration, Fire Services, Hazardous Materials and Emergency Management) and is responsible for emergency response, disaster preparedness, regulation of hazardous materials storage sites, fire code management, planning, prevention, training, business and community partnerships, and administrative support.

Sonoma County is threatened by a multitude of potential disasters, the most significant of which includes earthquakes, floods and winter storms, landslides, dam failure, urban/wildland fires, and hazardous materials incidents. The four divisions work together to manage the response to these threats.
