What if I'm in jail. Do I still have to pay support?

Answer

Yes. Even though you do not have the ability to pay while in jail, your obligation to pay support does not stop. Unpaid child support will continue to add up unless you file a motion with the court to modify the order. If you will be incarcerated for six months or more, contact the Department of Child Support Services and request a review and adjustment of your support obligation.
