What if I do things for my child over and above what the court ordered?

Answer

Child support is basic financial support. You must make regular payments to the Department of Child Support Services for the full amount of child support as ordered. Anything you give directly to the custodial party or to your child is considered a gift and will not count as child support. You cannot deduct money or the value of gifts you give to the custodial party or to your child from your child support payments.
