General Information about Our Services
All support services, including locate, paternity and support establishment,
and enforcement, collection and distribution of support are available
to any individual who files an application for services with the Sonoma
County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS). The DCSS provides
services to nonwelfare cases on the same basis, and using the same general
procedures, as are used for public assistance cases. Unlike public assistance
cases, there is no assignment of support rights from the nonwelfare applicant.
(see Information About Public Assistance Cases, page 11.)
There is no charge for our services. In order to maintain a case with
the Sonoma County DCSS we require cooperation with our policies and procedures
and that all support payments be processed through our office.
