Employer Question 38

What if the employee becomes injured, quits work, is laid off or fired after I begin withholding child support?

Answer

Please complete and mail in the Sonoma County DCSS Notice of Leave or the Notice of Termination form provided to you no later than the next pay date. If it is a temporary layoff, please note that information on the form.

Keep in mind that if the employee returns to your employment, the Order/Notice is still binding and must be honored. (Other California and state child support services agencies may use a different form than the form used by Sonoma County DCSS.)
