DISTRICT ATTORNEY AND CONGRESSWOMAN PARTNER IN UPCOMING FORECLOSURE PREVENTION WORKSHOP

Sonoma County District Attorney Stephen Passalacqua announced that he will be a panelist at the upcoming Foreclosure Prevention Workshop on Saturday, July 19, 2008. This event will be held at Redwood Credit Union, 3033 Cleveland Avenue, Suite 100, Santa Rosa, from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Its goal is to help and inform homeowners facing foreclosure.

District Attorney Passalacqua said, “This workshop is designed to give homeowners as much information as possible to help them deal with this difficult situation.”

Joining Passalacqua will be Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey.  Other panelists will include individuals from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, California Rural Legal Assistance, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, ACORN Housing, Washington Mutual, and the Santa Rosa Association of Realtors.

The informational panel will address topics regarding tenants’ rights, avoiding scams, preparing for short sales, and how to work with lenders and Housing Counseling Agencies.   There will be an opportunity for individual counseling sessions in Spanish and English on a first-come, first-served basisInformational exhibits will be present and take-away materials will be available.  There will also be activities for children.

Attendees are advised to bring their financial information with them if they are seeking individual counseling.
