MURDER SUSPECT CHARGED WITH SIX FELONIES

District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that charges have been filed against Honorio Pantaleon for the May 10, 2008 murder of Patricia Barrales, the mother of his two young children.  The criminal complaint alleges charges of murder, aggravated mayhem, domestic violence,  child endangerment and mayhem.  Additional allegations were also charged, including the use of a knife and the infliction of great bodily injury.  Two special circumstances were also charged in connection with the murder.

On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2008, the victim, Patricia Barrales was found in the Santa Rosa apartment she shared with Pantaleon.  On May 12, 2008, Pantaleon was arrested in Mendocino County and brought back to Sonoma County in connection with the murder.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, Mr. Pantaleon was formally arraigned in Department One of the Superior Court.  The court appointed the Public Defender as counsel.  Pantaleon did not enter a plea.  The case was continued to Friday, May 16, 2008, for entry of plea and setting of a Preliminary Hearing.  Pantaleon remains in custody at the Sonoma County Main Detention Facility.  His bail is currently set at no bail.
