SONOMA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY HOSTS AWARDS LUNCHEON AND CANDLELIGHT VIGILS DURING NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK

Crime victims and survivors, community leaders and law enforcement personnel will join District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua in the effort to raise community awareness of victims’ rights.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2008, the 5th Annual National Crime Victims’ Rights Awards Luncheon will be held at the Mary Agatha Furth Center in Windsor. The luncheon is from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Marc and Violet Klaas, founders of KlaasKids, will be honored at this event.

• City of Sonoma Vigil: Monday, April 14 at 6:00 pm on the Plaza.
• Santa Rosa Vigil: Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00 pm at Depot Park in Old Redwood Square.
• Petaluma Vigil: Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 pm at Walnut Park.

The vigils provide an opportunity for families, friends, volunteers, service providers’ staff, and the entire community to honor the memory of those lost to violence and pay tribute to those who triumphed over trauma and pain. The names of loved ones victimized by crime will be read at these solemn and uplifting ceremonies.
