SONOMA ATTEMPTED CHILD KIDNAP CASE FILED BY DA
Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that charges have been filed against 24 year old Sonoma resident Normando Zamora Ramirez in the case involving the attempted kidnap of a toddler. Ramirez is facing six felony charges: attempted kidnapping of a child; two counts of first degree residential burglary; child endangerment; false imprisonment; and battery on a custodial officer. He faces a maximum of 10 years, 10 months state prison.
Ramirez was arrested on February 15, 2008, the date the charged crimes occurred. The underlying incident involves the alleged attempted kidnap of a child from her babysitter’s residence. The child’s daycare-provider is the alleged victim in the false imprisonment count. The charge involving the battery on the custodial officer is alleged to have occurred while Ramirez was being booked into the jail. His bail is currently set at $300,000.
Ramirez appeared in Superior Court this morning for arraignment and was appointed an attorney, but postponed entering a plea until Thursday, 2/28/08.
