JACOBS IS FIRST PROSECUTOR TO RECEIVE "CAREER OF DISTINCTION" AWARD

Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that retired Assistant District Attorney Greg Jacobs received the "Careers of Distinction" award at the annual Sonoma County Bar Association dinner. Jacobs and long time Petaluma attorney Leroy Lounibos Jr. received recognition for their careers of distinction.

District Attorney Passalacqua stated, "Greg was a huge asset to our office. I have always respected his dedication and professionalism in doing the difficult work we do to protect our community." Over the course of his 31 years as a career prosecutor, Mr. Jacobs tried 110 jury trials ranging from DUI and robbery to sexual assaults and murder cases. In 2005, the California District Attorney’s Association selected Greg as one of the "Outstanding Prosecutors of the Year."

Rachel Dollar, President of the Sonoma County Bar Association, presented plaques to both individuals. Upon receiving the award, Mr. Jacobs stated "I am very honored to join a group of very distinguished attorneys. What makes it even more meaningful is that the Bar Association selected a career prosecutor for the first time for the award."

Jacobs and Lounibos were the 40th and 41st recipients of this recognition by the Sonoma County Bar Association. In 1992 the local bar association began recognizing local attorneys for their distinguished careers in the legal profession and their contributions to the community." Presently, Mr. Lounibos is a teacher at Casa Grande High School and Mr. Jacobs works part time on special projects in the District Attorney’s Office.
