D.A. STAFF HONORED WITH PRIDE AWARDS
District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced that the third annual District Attorney Pride Luncheon was held March 30, 2007 for members of his office. Over 100 members of the DA’s office came together to recognize and congratulate a number of their colleagues for their outstanding achievement, dedication to justice, and service to the Sonoma County community during 2006.
"I am extremely proud of our hard working and committed staff, particularly those who have won the Pride Awards, for their extraordinary efforts and achievements on behalf of our community," said District Attorney Passalacqua.
The District Attorney presented the Gene L. Tunney Integrity Award, named after the retired Sonoma County District Attorney who held office from 1974 to1995, to recently retired Assistant District Attorney Larry J. Scoufos for a distinguished career marked by adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Scoufos was also honored at the luncheon with a perpetual award in his name, the Larry J. Scoufos Trial Advocacy Award. This award is given in recognition of outstanding trial skills combined with passion, dedication and professionalism in the pursuit of justice. The first recipient of this award is Deputy District Attorney Robert Waner, the Gang Team Leader, who was lauded for his numerous successes during 2006 handling serious gang cases and a significant sexually violent predator case, as well as for his courteous and respectful demeanor with all in the criminal justice system. Deputy District Attorney Jeff Holtzman, who has gained a state-wide and national reputation for expertise in environmental prosecutions, was named Prosecutor of the Year for Special Prosecutions for his superior achievements in the Environmental and Consumer Protection Law Division. Deputy District Attorney Barbara Nanney was recognized for her hard work and triumphs during 2006 as Misdemeanor Prosecutor of the Year. Roy Loden received the Investigator of the Year Award for his diligent work ethic and noteworthy accomplishments last year, including his work as an instructor in the countywide Alive At 25 program, aimed at keeping youthful drivers safe and alive through education.
The Greg Jacobs Public Service Awards, named after the Assistant District Attorney who retired two years ago after 31 years in the office, was presented to Legal Assistant Patti Davis for her extraordinary efforts in the office and service to the public at large.
Excellence in Support Service Awards were received by Legal Secretary Jennifer Zunino and Secretary Cheryl Hegg for their professional assistance to staff. Outstanding Victim Support Awards were presented to Lacey Green and Karin McLean for their compassion and commitment to assisting victims of crimes.
Senior District Attorney Investigator Andy Mazzanti received the District Attorney Special Recognition Award for his distinguished contributions that have made a difference in the office and the community.
