DA NAMES BILL BROCKLEY CHIEF DEPUTY

Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today the selection of William Brockley as the new Chief Deputy District Attorney. Brockley will supervise the misdemeanor and felony trial departments.

"Mr. Brockley is a highly respected prosecutor who is very committed to our community, " said District Attorney Passalacqua.

Brockley earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Idaho and his law degree from Pepperdine School of Law.

He joined the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office in 1991. Throughout his career he has handled complex cases ranging from domestic violence and sexual assault to homicide and vehicular manslaughter. His recent successes include the cases of People v. Kevin Anthony and People v. Joseph Lynchard. Anthony pled guilty to a home invasion sexual assault against a minor and admitted a gang enhancement. In February, Anthony received a sentence of 25 years to life. Lynchard recently pled guilty to second degree murder for causing the death of Kathryn Black while driving with a 0.24 blood alcohol after having suffered numerous prior convictions for driving under the influence. Lynchard faces an upcoming sentence of 15 years to life.

During his tenure in the office, Chief Deputy Brockley has served as Team Leader of the Felony Trial Team, the Misdemeanor Trial Team and the Special Victims Unit. While in the Special Victims Unit, he played a key role in the recent cases involving the Petaluma Police department sting operation investigating online sexual predators. The chief deputy vacancy was created by the recent promotion of Assistant DA Diana Gomez. Brockley joins Spencer Brady and Joan Risse as the office’s three Chief Deputies.
