District Attorneys Stephan Passalacqua of Sonoma County, Ed Berberian of Marin County and Gary Lieberstein of Napa County will be on hand with representatives from their respective law enforcement agencies to discuss the campaign, "Make It Home for the Holidays" that is being launched by the California District Attorneys Association. Similar news conferences will be simultaneously held by District Attorneys throughout the state.
The District Attorneys from Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties will unveil a statewide prosecutors’ campaign to combat the rising statistics of DUI arrests and accidents in California at a news conference at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12th in the hearing room of the Permit and Resource Management Department located at 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa. The building is located within the Sonoma County Administration complex. A map is attached to assist you.
CDAA was recently awarded a $3.4 million grant by the federal Office of Traffic Safety to assist prosecutors throughout California in prosecuting DUI cases. The grant will fund a program that will divide the state into five regions with a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor assigned to each region to provide education and training to prosecutors. A primary objective is to reduce the number of fatalities attributed to alcohol and drug related vehicle accidents and to increase the rate of convictions for DUI offenses.
