District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today the successful prosecution of Defendants Robert and Megan Mason. They both pled guilty to sexually abusing Robert’s natural children.
Robert Mason pled guilty to committing aggravated sexual assault of a child, by raping his ten year old daughter. He also pled guilty to the sodomy of his ten year old son. He faces a prison term of up to 23 years to life. Megan Mason pled guilty to committing aggravated sexual assault of a child. She faces a mandatory prison term of fifteen years to life. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Marianna Lehr.
District Attorney Passalacqua stated, "I am hopeful that these convictions and life sentences will send a strong message to our community that we will not tolerate those who sexually molest children."
The defendants will be sentenced by Superior Court Judge Lawrence G. Antolini. Robert Mason, age 33, will be sentenced on November 22, 2006, and Megan Mason, age 34, will be sentenced on October 19, 2006.
