KARR SCHEDULED FOR COURT APPEARANCE

District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that defendant John Mark Karr will be arraigned on his arrest warrant tomorrow, September 14th, at 8:30 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Cerena Wong in Courtroom 2. Karr is charged with five counts of possessing child pornography in violation of Penal Code section 311.11. Chief Deputy District Attorney Joan Risse is the assigned prosecutor on the case.

It is anticipated that the warrant for the defendant will be recalled at the arraignment and a trial date will be set at that time. The defendant, who is now in the custody of the Sonoma County Sheriff, has a right to a jury trial within 30 days of his arraignment on the warrant, unless he waives that right. There may be additional hearings before the trial date, including the setting of bail.
