SUSPECT ARRESTED IN THAILAND HAS WARRANT IN SONOMA COUNTY

District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua confirmed today that the individual arrested yesterday in Bangkok, Thailand, John Mark Karr, has an outstanding arrest warrant in Sonoma County for five misdemeanor charges of possessing child pornography in violation of California Penal Code section 311.11(a). He was arrested in April 2001 for these crimes.

In December 2001, Mr. Karr failed to appear for his court date and a visiting judge issued a no bail bench warrant. A jury trial was scheduled for January 14, 2002.

No other information is available. No press conference will be held nor will any individual interviews be given.
