District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved three positions for his office to staff a new misdemeanor courtroom that the Superior Court will open on July 1, 2006.
The newly authorized positions include two deputy district attorneys and one legal processor. “These positions will allow us to effectively provide coverage in a misdemeanor court that has a high volume of cases. We are appreciative of the Board’s action and look forward to working with the County Administrator in the near future to seek additional staff to help protect our community,” said District Attorney Passalacqua. The recruitment for these positions is currently underway and it is anticipated that they will be filled by July 1.
The Board also allocated two deputy public defender positions for the Public Defender to staff the new misdemeanor courtroom. The County Administrator recommended that all of the requested positions by the District Attorney and Public Defender for the new courtroom be approved.
