District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that after a statewide recruitment he has selected District Attorney Investigator Tony Gillotte to be the next Chief Criminal Investigator in the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations. Effective April 1, 2006, he will replace Chief Investigator Mike Griffith, who recently retired.
Mr. Gillotte has an extensive history in the law enforcement community and the criminal justice system. He spent 31 years with the Novato Police Department where he worked as a patrol officer and has twenty years of experience as a supervising sergeant and lieutenant.
He joined the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office in 2001. District Attorney Passalacqua selected Mr. Gillotte to help lead the Homicide Unit when it was initially formed in 2003. He has an excellent reputation among law enforcement agencies and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 1978.
District Attorney Passalacqua stated, "I am confident that Tony Gillotte will continue to lead the Bureau in the same positive direction it has advanced during the past three years. We all look forward to working with him in his new position."
Gillotte commented, "I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing to work with all law enforcement agencies to provide the necessary support in protecting our community."
Chief Investigator Gillotte will be responsible for the direct supervision of fourteen district attorney investigators and a support staff of four. The position pays between approximately $96,000 and $117,000 per year.
