District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that he has promoted Christine Cook, one of his three Chief Deputy District Attorneys, to the position of Assistant District Attorney. She will join Assistant District Attorney Larry Scoufos as Mr. Passalacqua’s chief assistant in the office’s organization. Christine Cook is the first woman in the history of the District Attorney’s Office to be appointed to this position.
Assistant District Attorney Cook earned her law degree from Boston University in 1992. Prior to joining the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office in January 1999, she was a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps for the United States Army in the 25th Infantry Division, where she gained prosecutorial experience. Ms. Cook is currently assigned to manage the Special Victims Unit and oversee the Victim Assistant Center. She is currently the prosecutor in a trial involving three gang members charged with a murder that occurred in Santa Rosa in 1998.
